Goodbye, Raising Kanan: A Power Era Comes to an End
Today we say goodbye to one of the strongest chapters in the Power Universe.
Premiering on July 18, 2021, Power Book III: Raising Kanan took fans back to 1991 South Jamaica, Queens, telling the origin story of Kanan Stark long before he became the feared character audiences first met in Power. Over five seasons, the series evolved into much more than a prequel, it became a standout crime drama in its own right.
Led by an incredible cast including Mekai Curtis as Kanan Stark, Patina Miller as the unforgettable Raquel "Raq" Thomas, alongside London Brown, Malcolm Mays, Hailey Kilgore, Joey Bada$$, and Omar Epps, the show delivered layered storytelling, unforgettable performances, and some of the most compelling family dynamics on television.
As the series finale premieres today, fans are closing the book on Kanan's origin story after five unforgettable seasons. While this chapter ends, the Power franchise continues to expand with future stories, but Raising Kanan leaves behind a legacy that many fans consider one of the best entries in the entire universe.
Thank you for the twists, the betrayals, the unforgettable one-liners, and the characters we'll never forget.
